Celebrating Our World Language Stars in the Immerse Me Cup!

We have some truly exciting news to share about the amazing accomplishments of our LaunchED Virtual Academy students in the worldwide Immerse Me Cup competition!

This year marked the first time all of our World Language students participated, and they made an incredible debut! The competition challenges students’ knowledge and fluency across all four essential language skills: speaking, listening, writing, and reading in Spanish.

LaunchED Virtual Academy placed 8th Overall against competitors from around the globe, and 2nd place for our size!

We want to give a special shout-out to five exceptional students—Ada, Alex S., Lorelei, Liv, and Skyler F.—who received the Bronze Level distinction. This accomplishment places them within the top 18% of all competitors!

Additionally, we want to recognize our World Language teacher, Ms. Jody Cabanillas, for her leadership in this opportunity and her recognition as an Innovative Educator by the Immerse Me Cup competition.

We are immensely proud of the extra time and outside effort these students put into this cool opportunity. Their dedication to mastering a new language is a fantastic example for all of LaunchED. We know our students are the best and we love that they are able to participate in global experiences that demonstrate that LaunchED innovative spirit!

Senior Sophia G. completed a series of portraits of her cat, Noodle, for her Photography Choice Project. This one is called “Noodles’ First Christmas.” Sophia says “My current work has improved so much than when I started. Now I care more about lighting, angles, and the rule of thirds and everything I’ve learned this semester.” Thank you to Ms. Freeman for sharing these powerful examples of learning in LaunchED. And thank you Sophia for sharing your beautiful portraits with our community!
