Principal’s Update & Important Dates
Today is World Read Aloud Day! We invite you to take some time today as a family and have your students read to you–our elementary students are working so hard to grow as readers, and our secondary students have shown us how much they love to read and share their stories with others. So, we hope you embrace that today (and every day) as we celebrate World Read Aloud Day. Also–we want to draw your attention to a new feature of our newsletter below where our art teachers are celebrating student work each week!

Nominate an Educator for Teacher of the Year!
We have an incredible team of teachers in our school (including our interventionist and counselor!). Our teachers embrace innovation and compassion in equal measure–and they understand how to honor where a student is as a learner and help them see what they can be as they grow. And to teach online is truly magical, to build relationships through a screen that feel even more authentic and connected is a super power all of our teachers possess.
Please help recognize a teacher in LaunchED Virtual Academy by nominating a teacher who you believe exemplifies excellence for a Teacher of the Year Award. Visit St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation’s website at https://stvrainfoundation.org/programs/tribute-to-teachers/ for the nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:45 pm.
Our admin team, Julie Read and Nannette McMurtry, can help you gather any information you need to fill out this nomination form–you can reach them via email or call the office. Thank you for all the ways you honor our teachers in LaunchED!

LaunchED In the News!
Our district communications team wrote an amazing article about the ways students feel connected to their teachers and each other in LaunchED–being an online learner means community, connection, and so much more!
You can read the whole article here: https://launched.svvsd.org/2024/01/29/launched-virtual-academy-fosters-strong-teacher-student-connection-in-a-fully-online-learning-environment/
