LaunchED Photo of the Week

Our picture of the week features part of our social studies assignment. Ms Courtney shares what this work is about: “In our Social Studies 7th grade class, each day we start our class with a new country to learn about beginning with a hints page with facts and images and then a map reveal followed by a informational video. The students take a lot of ownership in this established routine providing suggestions for what country to learn about next and/or proclaiming how a family member has been there or daydreaming about us taking a class field trip to any of these beautiful, intriguing countries. Here is what our ongoing record of countries we have learned about since August of 2023. “

LaunchED Parent and Teacher Conferences February 5th-9th
Please take a moment to sign up for our Spring parent-teacher conferences. These conferences allow parents and teachers to connect and talk about their child’s progress, answer questions and talk about future planning for your child.
You can sign up for conferences at this link: https://sites.google.com/svvsd.org/launchedfamilyresources/conferences

Nominate an Educator for Teacher of the Year!
We have an incredible team of teachers in our school (including our interventionist and counselor!). Our teachers embrace innovation and compassion in equal measure–and they understand how to honor where a student is as a learner and help them see what they can be as they grow. And to teach online is truly magical, to build relationships through a screen that feel even more authentic and connected is a super power all of our teachers possess.
Please help recognize a teacher in LaunchED Virtual Academy by nominating a teacher who you believe exemplifies excellence for a Teacher of the Year Award. Visit St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation’s website at https://stvrainfoundation.org/programs/tribute-to-teachers/ for the nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:45 pm.
Our admin team, Julie Read and Nannette McMurtry, can help you gather any information you need to fill out this nomination form–you can reach them via email or call the office. Thank you for all the ways you honor our teachers in LaunchED!

LaunchED In the News!
Our district communications team wrote an amazing article about the ways students feel connected to their teachers and each other in LaunchED–being an online learner means community, connection, and so much more!
You can read the whole article here: https://launched.svvsd.org/2024/01/29/launched-virtual-academy-fosters-strong-teacher-student-connection-in-a-fully-online-learning-environment/

Attention Students (and parents)!
Please make sure that your iPad is updated to the latest iOS. We recommend checking weekly to see if there is a new update for your iPad’s operating system. So many apps and websites for LaunchED rely on these updates.
