Power of Taking Action

As we head into the final weeks of April, our focus shifts to a skill that defines a successful digital learner: The Power of Taking Action through Self-Advocacy. This month, our students have focused on this skill in our 6th-12th grade advisory classes and we really see that our students are stepping up and reaching out to teachers when they need support.

In an online environment, roadblocks like tech glitches or confusion aren’t always visible to teachers, which is why a student’s voice is the most important tool they have to keep moving forward. We want our students to realize that reaching out for help isn’t “bothering” anyone—it is actually what makes them successful problem-solvers in the professional world. Some of our students need help asking for that support and being a “self advocate.” This week, we encourage you to talk as a family about the many ways your student can take action when they need support. Whether it’s dropping into office hours, sending a quick email to a teacher, or reaching out to our counselors, knowing how to access help is a digital learning superpower. Together, we can ensure every student in LaunchED has the tools they need to finish this year strong!

The high school 2D Design class has been exploring the principles of design, including balance and symmetry. Noelle C. (11th) used the symmetry feature in the Sketchbook drawing app to create this detailed pattern using radial symmetry.

Thank you to Ms. Freeman for sharing this piece AND for all in the incredible you work you did for the District Art Show! Our students are so talented and we had many people comment on the creativity and innovation they saw presented by our school. Congratulations to all our student artists!

ParentSquare: Our New District Communication Tool

A family sits on a couch, engaging with a tablet while smiling and sharing ideas in a cozy living room.

St. Vrain Valley Schools will begin using ParentSquare, a new district communication tool that allows families to receive notifications based on their preferences. St. Vrain’s communications team will pilot ParentSquare for the remainder of the school year with the plan to expand access to schools at the start of the 2026-27 school year. We’re excited about the opportunities ParentSquare offers to streamline communication and will be working towards consolidating several of the tools families currently use into one convenient platform.

After spring break, parents and guardians will receive an email invitation to activate their ParentSquare account. This will allow families to download the mobile app, set language preferences, and choose how and when they receive notifications.

Visit the district website to learn more about ParentSquare.

April Focus: The Power of Taking Action

Habit # 4 The Power of Taking Action (Self-Advocacy)

In an online world, people can’t always see when you’re stuck or having a hard time. That’s why being able to “take action” is one of the important tools for digital learners. Whether it’s a tech glitch, a confusing assignment, or just needing an extra day, speaking up for yourself is how you take the lead in your own education.

Don’t Sit in Silence: If you’ve been staring at a screen for 10 minutes and haven’t moved forward, that’s your cue to reach out. Sending a quick message or asking a question isn’t “bothering” anyone—it’s the way that you receive support and move forward as a learner!

The Solution Mindset: In any future job, the most successful people aren’t the ones who know everything; it’s the ones who know how to find the answer. When you ask for help, you aren’t failing—you’re being a problem-solver who refuses to let a roadblock stop them
