LaunchED Picture Of the Week

Dive into science at LaunchED! Our AGILE learning classroom isn’t just a place; it’s a launching pad for discovery. Recently, 5th graders got hands-on with acids, bases, and solids. They experimented with different solutions and watched pennies transform right before their eyes! Even students learning from home were part of the action, observing and collecting data. Thanks to Ms. Legrand and Mr. Reid, these young scientists once again proved that learning can be exciting at home or in person–a critical part of LaunchED!

Gifted and Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic and/or talent areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Important Infinite Campus Tasks for Families
Your Infinite Campus Parent Portal is an important tool to keep your family connected throughout the school year. This platform allows you to manage your student and family contact information, as well as access student report cards each trimester, pay annual fees, and digitally sign annual permissions.
Here are the most important IC Parent Portal Tasks for the Beginning of the School Year:
1. Student Code of Conduct: Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff regarding expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document. Here is an electronic version of the Student Code of Conduct and instructions on how to submit your acknowledgement in the IC Parent Portal.
2. iPad Insurance: Our iPads are incredible tools for learning, but accidents do happen. We encourage all families to opt-in to iPad insurance each year to avoid costly fees. Replacement for a lost or damaged iPad can be upwards of $677. IPad Insurance is just $25 and even less for families who qualify for reduced fees. You can even opt-in with $1 cash payment to the Main Office and pay the rest throughout the year. Full $25 fees can be paid in Infinite Campus.
3. Review Your Contact Information: Your Parent Portal also allows you to adjust your contact information and contact preferences. See this Infinite Campus Guide for Parents to learn more about all the various settings in the system. We suggest that families have their contact preferences checked ️ for emails and phone numbers for each notification so that you never miss a call or text message from the school.
Here are further instructions for submitting your Student Code of Conduct acknowledgement, and how to pay fees in your IC Parent Portal.
